Guide · Preparation
Getting ready for a massage at home.
Ten minutes of preparation makes a noticeable difference. Here’s what to sort out before your therapist arrives, and what to do afterwards.

Choose your spot
Somewhere to lie flat, with space around it.
A full-body massage needs a surface where you can lie flat, with room for the therapist to stand beside you. A portable massage bed isn’t included, so for most people that means a bed. A wide, firm sofa can also work.
For a foot massage, a comfortable armchair or sofa is enough. Either way, clear the floor around your spot and move anything fragile off nearby tables.
Towels & linen
Protect your sheets, keep yourself warm.
Have two large bath towels ready: one to lie on and one to cover you. Massage oil can mark fabric, so a towel over the bed, or an older sheet, keeps your good linen safe.
A small rolled towel or an extra pillow is useful for under your ankles, and some people like one for under their forehead when lying face down.
The room
Warm, dim and quiet.
You’ll be lying still, so set the air-conditioning warmer than you normally would, or switch to a fan. Soft lighting helps you settle. Music is optional; silencing your phone is not.
Before arrival
A few things to sort out first.
- Tell your guardhouse or building security you’re expecting a visitor, and register them if your building requires it.
- Share parking, drop-off and lift instructions with the booking team.
- Settle pets in another room for the session.
- Eat something light rather than a heavy meal beforehand.
- Shower beforehand if you like; it’s entirely up to you.
- Keep your phone nearby in case your therapist needs directions on the way.
What to wear
Whatever feels comfortable.
Undress to the level you’re comfortable with. You’ll be covered with a towel, with only the area being massaged uncovered. For a foot massage, shorts or loose trousers are all you need.
Tell us beforehand
Anything your therapist should know.
Let the booking team know about oil allergies, injuries, medical conditions or pregnancy before you confirm. Massage here is for wellness, not medical treatment, so check with a medical professional first if you’re unsure.
Please avoid sending detailed medical information on WhatsApp. A short note is enough.
Afterwards
Don’t rush back to the day.
Take a few quiet minutes before you get up. A glass of water and an unhurried evening are a nice way to finish.
Quick checklist
- Spot chosen and floor cleared
- Two large bath towels ready
- Air-conditioning set a little warmer
- Building security told about your visitor
- Pets settled elsewhere
- Phone on silent
Before you book
Questions, answered.
Something else on your mind? Our booking team is happy to help.
Ask our booking teamDo I need my own massage table?
No. A portable massage bed isn’t included, and a bed or a wide, firm sofa works well for most sessions.
Can I have my massage on the floor?
A floor mat isn’t supplied by default. Tell the booking team in advance if you’d prefer a floor setup.
Should someone else be at home?
That’s entirely up to you. If you’d feel more comfortable with someone else at home, that’s absolutely fine.
Is preparation different in a hotel?
Slightly. Ask housekeeping for extra towels and check the visitor rules with reception. See hotel massage.
Space ready?
Then you’re all set.
Choose a treatment and a time, and we’ll arrange the rest.
