Guide · Choosing a treatment
Deep tissue or relaxing? How to choose.
Both are full-body massages. The difference lies in the pressure, the pace and how you’d like to feel afterwards.

Relaxing massage
Choose relaxing if…
- It’s your first massage, or your first in a long while.
- You’d like to wind down at the end of the day.
- You prefer a lighter touch, or firm pressure makes you tense.
- You’re curious about Balinese, aromatherapy or traditional styles; ask about them within the standard options.
Deep tissue
Choose deep tissue if…
- You usually find yourself asking for “a bit harder”.
- Particular areas, such as your shoulders, lower back or hips, feel tight.
- You’re comfortable telling your therapist when to ease off.

Still unsure?
Start gentle, then go firmer.
Book a relaxing massage and ask for medium pressure. If you find yourself wishing for more, you’ll know to choose deep tissue next time. Or describe what you’re after to the booking team and they’ll suggest one.
If it’s mainly your feet and calves that need attention, or you’d rather stay seated, a foot massage may be the better fit.

Questions, answered.
Something else on your mind? Our booking team is happy to help.
Ask our booking teamIs deep tissue better than a relaxing massage?
Neither is better. They suit different preferences, and firmer pressure isn’t automatically the right choice.
Can a relaxing massage be done with firmer pressure?
Within the light-to-medium range, yes. Ask your therapist at any time. If you want consistently firm pressure, book deep tissue.
